Originally known as the Hebrew Sheltering Home for the Aged, the Jewish Home for the Aging was founded in Boyle Heights in 1912. About four years later, the Home's first permanent facility was built on Boyle Avenue, where it existed for decades. In 1967, acreage in Reseda was purchased and a facility was built on Victory Boulevard. A merger in 1979 with the Menorah Village created a second campus on Tampa Avenue in Reseda. Photograph caption dated November 19, 1956 reads, "Television performer Dick Lane pays tribute to Rose Baker, 78, and Seymour Fox, 89, residents of California Home for Aged in Reseda, during 14th annual Silver plate Dinner at Beverly Hilton Hotel. More than 1,000 attended."
