Connie and Ben begin the interview discussing his upbringing as a Chinese-American with his siblings in segregated America, specifically Texas. They move on to talk about Ben being able to break away from his segregated, ghettoized Chinese-American life and pursue his career as a journalist at Rolling Stone before discussing the familial obstacles he and his siblings encountered dating outside of their Chinese ethnicity, as well as the murder of Ben’s brother. Connie and Ben proceed to discuss the significance of Rolling Stone in Ben’s life and his future projects, and Connie closes the interview requesting an autograph for her copy of the book.
