Michael Gonzalez (Manatt, Phelps & Phillips), memorandum (sent by telefacsimile), 1991 May 3, to Independent Commission witness file, re Allegations of police misconduct in the arrest of Albert Lewis. PART OF A SERIES: The staff of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips extended its support to the Independent Commission by undertaking the following tasks: preparing and reviewing the recruitment/testing and academy/training chapters of the Commission report presenting witnesses to the Commission interviewing over 20 LAPD personnel of different departmental ranks interviewing city staff and medical personnel attending meetings with the Police Protective League reviewing the background files of LAPD officers attending numerous roll call training sessions and public meetings researching and drafting legal memoranda in reference to labor issues arisen within the report conducting general background research for the Commission and attending two ride-alongs with the LAPD.
