This is side A of the ninth tape of recordings of a course taught by Peter Drucker in 1978. He begins by discussing with the students the reasons people engage in cronyism and its potential impacts. Personal relationships in the workplace can make it difficult to succeed. The Sloan management style solution to avoiding "cronies" is to not have any friends or personal attachments at the office. According to Drucker you run the risk of being cut off if you don't build any relationships at work, but it can be difficult to build a circle of people and maintain the balance between being a boss and being a human being. Drucker also discusses playing to one's strengths rather than one's interests.
