Description
"Familie von Petrus Mazwi in Elukolweni" ("Family of Petrus Mazwi in Elukolweni"). Twenty people are positioned in three rows. Five children are sitting at the very front. Behind them, two people (one man and woman) neatly dressed, are sitting. To the left and right of them, two more people are standing, wearing light-coloured dresses. In the backmost line, five women and four men are standing. Two women are holding babies in their arms.
Petrus, S. Mazwi, born in 1859 in Gosen (South Africa), was an indigenous brother and worked as a teacher in Engotini and in Enstwasi and for 20 years in Tabase. In Baziya, he was active as an evangelist, national assistant and teacher in the year 1882. He married Clara Dywili (born in 1862) and worked as a missionary assistant from 1895 up to 1900 in Tabase, later in Elukolweni.
