Photograph caption dated December 20, 1962 reads, " 'First State of Nation' Breakfast Set -- California's "First State of the Nation" all-center and community breakfast marking the emergence of California as the number one state in population will be held Dec. 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Valley Cities Jewish Community Center, 13163 Burbank Blvd., Van Nuys. Gov. Edmund B. Brown has been invited to attend the informal public affair which will feature an "all you can eat" meal and entertainment. Above, Mrs. Min Karp, volunteer breakfast chairman; Milton Malkin, center director; Marion Eichner, speical projects chairman, and Larry Greenman, community breakfast chairman, prepare "fixings" for breakfast. Reservations for breakfast may be made by calling STate 6-6310 or TRiangle 3-4620."
