Photograph caption dated July 10, 1962 reads, "Judges aren't the only ones who cast discerning glances at beauty pageant contestants as the above photograph from the Miss Sherman Oaks contest demonstrates. As one girl goes through her paces, other title hopefuls eye their competition. The number of girls in the pageant sponsored by the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce was cut from 27 to 10 last weekend. Five more girls will be eliminated by July 21 and the winner will be crowned July 28."
