Description
The dam was named in honor of Samuel B. Morris, Chief Engineer and General Manager of the Pasadena Water Department, and dedicated on May 26, 1934, by Herbert Hoover. It was constructed by the City of Pasadena Water Department for the storage of domestic water, to be later used by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California as a storage unit for Colorado River water. It is overseen by Los Angeles County department of Public Works.
