Photograph caption dated November 2, 1963 reads, "Los Angeles County Supervisor Warren M. Dorn, second from left, cuts a 60-foot gold chain during dedication ceremonies for the final segment of the Golden State Freeway Friday. Assisting Dorn were, left to right, Burbank Mayor John B. Whitney, Dorn, Miss San Fernando, Joy Dunn; Miss Sylmar, Suzanne Seefeld; Assemblyman Lou Cusanovich and Andy Hunsaker, representing Rep. Everett G. Burkhalter. More than 300 persons turned out for the dedication of the 6.2-mile, $13 million segment, from Osborne St. in Pacoima to San Fernando Rd. in Sylmar."
