Photograph of an early wine press, possibly Anaheim, California, 1895. This wine press is typical of the type used by the German settlers in Anaheim but the location of this picture is uncertain. The press (foreground) consists of a large barrel-shaped wooden container. A long rough timber connected to pivot on a tall wooden frame in the background provides leveraged weight on the press. Six large wooden vats sit next to an adjacent wood building (at left) and under a large tree (at right).
