Description
This film was shot at President John F. Kennedy's appearance at the University of California, Berkeley Charter Day, March 23, 1962 at which he was awarded an honorary LLD degree. The film begins with many shots of the crowd filling Memorial Stadium. The academic procession enters--class representatives, faculty, Regents, R.O.T.C. honor guard, President Kennedy and officials. Several people make introductory remarks. President Kennedy is awarded an honorary law degree. Kennedy speaks at podium. Procession exits stadium. On platform with President Kennedy are Governor Edmund G. Brown, Chancellor Edward W. Strong, Chairman of the Board of Regents Edwin Pauley, President of the University Clark Kerr.
