Photograph of a line of a dozen Hopi snake priests singing songs and prayers before the kiva or kisi at the pueblo of Oraibi, Arizona, 1898. They wear traditional skirts, moccasins, necklaces and feathers. Their faces, chests and arms are painted white. A large group of spectators, including some white men, are visible in the background standing before and perched on the walls of the buildings of the pueblo.
