Description
1989-1170. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. B, leaf 28. A night scene illuminated by electric lights strung on both sides of the street and on each street as well; the street leads into the photograph and in the middle distance appears a gazebo-like structure covered with lights; strung across the street are lines with banners and pennants; at top right is an electric light illuminated round sign with spokes coming off; windows on the ground floor are seen on the right; electric utility poles can be seen down the street. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Old Hale Brothers Byilding [sic], erected about 1882, on the site of the Old German Luthern Church, which church was first erected in 1868".
