Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated June 28, 1965 reads, "Pinewood Avenue School sixth grade children meet their adopted female siamang (gibbon) at the Los Angeles Children's Zoo this week. The gibbon, held by Art Levin, animal keeper, will grow to three or four feet tall. After shaking hands with the party of children, the siamang made a quaint hooting sound acknowledging his approval of the adoption. Dr. W. A. Young, zoo director, in rear, said the children raised $250 for the adoption."
