Description
Original program notes (compiled from multiple sources): Earshot | Projects by the 1987 Artists in Residence | Saturday & Sunday March 26 & 27 1988 The Keeping of Bees is Like the Directing of Sunshine Installation/Performance Collaboration Joanna Haigood and Mark Thompson Joanna Haigood is director of Zaccho Dance Theater and has performed her environmentally inspired choreography in Paris, New York, Atlanta, Houston, and San Francisco. On the weekend of March 26 and 27, the Center will give the public a chance to see the work that our seven 1987 artists-in-residence have been doing during their year in the Headlands. Both Saturday and Sunday the Center will be open from noon until 6PM. We expect this late March weekend to be warm and sunny and invite you to bring a picnic lunch, stretch out on the parade ground and spend the afternoon at the Center. Early in the afternoon choreographer Joanna Haigood and visual artist Mark Thompson will present a collaborative performance piece in the Center’s gymnasium. Inspiration for the piece has been drawn from the building itself which has become home to a swarm of wild honeybees. While both have brought their particular interest and experiences to the collaboration, the performance has been developed as a new extention for both artists.
