Photograph caption dated August 14, 1983 reads, "A car hit a stationary RTD bus came out a loser. But that was only half the story. Moments before the car, a Cadillac, hit another Cadillac from which a woman was hurled against the side of the bus. Police said the first Cadillac was northbound on Western Avenue, sideswiped a car and ran a red light at 89th Street where it struck the car driven by Geraldine Moaning, who was then thrown against the bus. meanwhile, Moaning's driverless car plowed into a third car waiting at a signal, then hit two empty parked cars. The driver of the first Cadillac, Willie Thomas, was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance where he tore the IVs of his arm, jumped out an ran away, police said. He was arrested later after seeking treatment at a hospital emergency room and was to be booked for driving under the influence of drugs. Moaning sustained head injuries and a fractured arm. A total of six were treated for injuries."
