Chávez Ravine women property owners in sit-down strike at Mayor Fletcher Bowron's office protesting a plan proposed by the City Planning Commission to demolish their homes for a housing project. Sitting in chairs, on the floor and on the desk or standing in doorways and against the walls, they are waiting for Mayor Bowron to appear. Photograph dated May 11, 1951.
