Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated February 12, 1964 partially reads, "Microwave cooking sounds like a term from out of the future. But it isn't. It's today's busy homemaker's dream come true. With microwave cooking it is no longer necessary to be home three hours ahead of time to prepare a roast beef dinner. The complete dinner can be cooked electronically in as little as half an hour. You can roast your 15-pound holiday turkey in an hour and 20 minutes. Breakfast, including bacon, eggs, toast and coffee, can be ready in three minutes." Department of Water and Power home economist Marie Russell demonstrates electronic oven. Cherry pie is cooked in 5 1/2 minutes on type of electronic oven marketed by Tappan and Westinghouse.; See image #00117353 for additional photo in this series.
