Description
The living room in the Old Governor's Mansion, which is located at Sixteenth and H Streets, is the subject of this photograph, taken circa 1955. Lavishly decorated, this former drawing room boasts one of seven Italian marble fireplaces. All the door handles and hinges were made specifically for the mansion, many of the door knobs designed with hummingbirds or mythological griffins.
