Description: The Bank of Italy was built in 1927 at on the southeast corner of First and Santa Clara Streets where the San Jose Safe Deposit Bank had once stood. The 13-story building is topped by a five-story tower with a beacon to warn away low-flying aircraft. For many years it was the tallest building in San Jose.
