This is a photograph of "Brother Lawrence standing somewhere near the center of new property. It reaches from mountain tops down to a big river front." This land is slated for the new Leprosarium at Jiangmen. Born in Ohio, Brother Lawrence entered the Maryknoll Brothers in 1921. In 1933 he was assigned to the Kongmoon Mission where he specialized in construction and landscaping. Loaned to Wuchow in 1936, he was in charge of the construction of the seminary in Taan Chuk. He was repatriated to the United States on the SS Gripsholm in 1942 and spent the rest of his life at Maryknoll keeping the printing machinery of the Field Afar magazine in working order.
