Pictured is Mrs. Frances Muir Pomeroy of North Hollywood, dressed in period costume. Mrs. Pomeroy, chief historian of the San Fernando Valley, can be seen sitting in a horse-drawn vehicle, holding a bell in one hand and a peach in the other as a bucketful of the fruit rests next to her. The bell is the first one used at North Hollywood High School; the peaches represent the days when North Hollywood was known as 'Lankershim, Home of the Peach.' Photograph dated October 28, 1949.
