Photograph caption date stamped June 8, 1963 partially reads, "Los Angeles city high school gymnastics has produced some of the greatest performers in the world, now, there's another name to add to the growing list - 16-year-old Makoto Sakamoto. The 10th grade sensation from Los Angeles High won four events Friday night in the city finals at San Fernando Valley State College to lead his Roman mates to the team championship with 37 1/2 points."
