Photograph of the Pico drive-in theatre, California's first drive-in theatre, 1938. The theater -- which opened September 9, 1934 -- is shown at center, a large square featuring words that proclaim "Drive-In Theater. Sit in your car. See and hear Talking Pictures on the world's largest screen. California's First". In the foreground, a dirt road curves to the right. Other signs read: "Entrance", and "Turn all lights out here". At center, a 1938 theatrical poster can be seen advertising the "Adventures of Marco Polo" with Gary Cooper. Additional information: According to Cinema treasures, this theater was located at 10860 Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles. After the it was moved/demolished, the Pickwood theater opened.
