Photograph article dated February 6, 1962 partially reads, "A 27-year-old North Hollywood man told police he killed his mother with an ice pick Monday night because she was 'just working herself to death.' Helen S. Scheuer, 53, 11734 1/2 LaMaida St., North Hollywood, the former wife of Morton Thompson, author of the best seller, 'Not As a Stranger,' died of 12 ice pick wounds in Valley Doctors Hospital at 8:42 p.m. Her son, Morton Harold Thompson Jr., is held at North Hollywood Police Station on suspicion of murder. Witnesses said Mrs. Scheuer stumbled from the front door of her home shortly before 8 p.m. screaming, 'Help! Buddy just stabbed me and is going to kill himself. Call the police. I'm dying.' When police arrived minutes later, they found Thompson sitting on the lawn at 11726 LaMaida St. Det. Sgt. Dan Bowser said the son admitted stabbing his mother." Photograph caption reads, "Here are the ice pick and pajamas. Murder weapon held by officer Ray Jackson."; See images #00130746 through #00130749 for all photos in this series.
