Description
Photograph of "Guilin left in ruins by retreating Japanese forces. This picture shows clearly how the Japanese sacked and destroyed Guilin, Kwangsi Province capital, before retreating before the advancing Chinese Armies which retook the former important American air base on July 27. Almost the entire city burned and reduced to heaps of rubble, ashes and walls in a two week planned campaign by the Japanese before they withdrew down the road in center into the hills in the distance."
