Photograph caption dated November 27, 1964 reads, "Off and running - More than 500 karting enthusiasts from throughout the nation will compete in the Karting World Double 500 tomorrow and Sunday at Willow Springs Raceway. The two 500-mile races on the 2.5-mile Antelope Valley course represent the biggest venture of its kind in U.S. karting competition, shown here in a typical flag-waving scene."
