Description
O. T. Johnson, Jr. - Commissioner - September 1930, Mr. Johnson is the youngest member of the Board in point of service. He was appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Judge Harlan G. Palmer a few months ago. ; The new Vice-president of the Board in an engineer by profession. He lacks four years of being a native of California. He was born in Illinois. After his elementary schooling he attended Cornell University and the University of California. ; In addition to his office of Vice-president, Mr. Johnson is a member of the Lands Committee on which he has been a very active and indefatigable worker. The Board of Water and Power Commissioners now is composed of the following: Dr. John R. Haynes, President, O. T. Johnson, Jr., Vice-president, Frank H. Brooks, A. B. Prior and E. M. Scofield. ; Mr. Johnson recently resigned his position on the Metropolitan Water District Board of Directors in agreement with Mayor Porter's previously expressed desire to have the membership of the two boards entirely separate. ; In keeping with a custom established by the Employees' Association a Commissioner's pin (similar to the 25 year pin given to employees who have served the Department of Water and Power a quarter of a century) was presented to Mr. Johnson, the latter part of August 1930. ; Presentation of the pin was made by Sam Arthur, recently elected Chairman of the Employees' Board of Control for the year 1930-31.
