Maple Drive in Beverly Hills is appropriately named since it is completely lined with dozens upon dozens of flowering maple trees on either side of the street, from beginning to end, creating a beautiful and picture-perfect shot. Maples are mostly trees growing anywhere from 30-130 feet in height, but others are shrubs less than 30 feet tall. They flower in late winter or early spring, and depending on the type of maple tree, their flowers can be green, yellow, orange or red. Although these flowers are small, when the entire tree has flowered, it can be a striking view, as is the case here. Some of these trees are an early spring source of nectar and pollen for bees and are an important source of syrup as well as wood. Maples are planted as ornamental trees by homeowners, businesses and municipalities.
