Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated July 16, 1956 reads "Sections of 30-inch pipe to carry natural gas serpentine along position of old Ridge Route where 45-foot sections are being welded together. Line starts at Needles, will extend south on Balboa boulevard to Ventura boulevard in Valley and terminate in Long Beach."
