The Screen Directors Guild was founded in 1936, but in 1960, the group merged with the Radio and Television Directors Guild to become the Directors Guild of America.
Photograph caption dated November 3, 1982 reads, "There was much ado in Movieland last night, with two premieres attracting the stars. Attending the premiere of 'Suddenly Last Summer' at the Screen Director's Guild Playhouse, were, left to right: Director Joseph Maniewicz [sic], singer Eddie Fisher and wife, actress Elizabeth Taylor, star of the movie; Tennessee Williams, author of the story, and producer Sam Spiegel."
