Description
Kashnor notes, "A very interesting early map of the Eastern Hemisphere, omitting the northern coast of Scandinavia and the southern part of Africa. Nothing is included above the Arctic Circle, which, however, is placed much to far south and within six degrees of the Orkney Islands." [Note from 105:979, uncolored duplicate.] Cartouche: Typical Ortelius; border heavily worked. Four small submaps of continents. Prime meridian: Ferro. Relief: pictorial. Projection: Pseudocylindrical. Printing Process: Copper engraving. References: Shirley 176; Van der Broeke 186. Verso Text: Latin Text: Aevi Veteris [badly trimmed, see 105:979 for copy of text, noting this is a different printing.] MS note: 980.
