A Mayan woman cooks while children help and play next to a hut in the refugee camp of Chajul, Chiapas. In May 1984 refugees from the Chajul settlement fled and hid in the Lacandón jungle when Mexican newspapers headlined that the Minister of the Interior, Manuel Bartlett Díaz, decided to relocate the approximately 46,000 Guatemalans from Chiapas to Campechgle.
