Photograph of veterans marching towards the ocean holding flowers during Memorial Day ceremonies, ca.1930. Nine veterans march along the pier holding flowers to cast into the sea for Decoration Day (the old name for Memorial Day). The veteran in the back row to the extreme left is dressed in the Navy flat hat and flared pants of his duty uniform, while the rest of the veterans are dressed in formal uniform jackets and brimmed caps. They carry the navy flag in front of them and the American flag behind. A veteran towards the back is wearing a hat of the type worn during the Spanish-American War.
