Description
On back: "One of the Stockton Ranch houses brought around the horn in the early fifties. The frame being fitted and numbered ready to put up. These were eight or nine brought at one time. The photograph was made soon after the earthquake of April 18, 1906 showing the damaged building whick stood on the town property and occupied by Mr. Ralph - engineer at the Santa Clara Municipal Water Works at the time of the disaster. Being low land the timbers of the underpinning had decayed and had been neglected as to repairs. This building was moved to the present site from the Stockton Ranch about one quarter of a mile east of the Santa Clara Depot. It was moved in 1864 and stood the earthquake of 1868." (505 Benton, Santa Clara)
