Description
This is a photograph of Fr. Mulcahy standing in a round doorway at Wuchow [now Wuzhou] Seminary. He wears a light shirt and dark pants, holds his pith helmet and leans on the doorway as if to open it.
Rev. Mulcahy was born in Framingham, MA. He entered The Venard, Maryknoll's Apostolic College, in 1920, and was ordained in 1929. He was assigned that year to Wuchow. In 1947 he was appointed Maryknoll's procurator in Shanghai. He returned to Wuchow in 1948. In 1951 he became procurator in Hong Kong and was in charge of refugee work there, and later served as local superior. In 1961 he was assigned to Transfiguration Parish in Chinatown, NYC and in 1967 became the curate of the Chinese parish in Chicago.
