Opening day of the MTA Orange Line at the North Hollywood Metro Red Line Park and Ride, located at 5350 Lankershim Blvd. This photo shows the very first Metro Liner as it approaches a large banner being held by two unidentified men. The banner reads, "Metro Orange Line - It's the Valley's new shortcut." The Orange Line was formerly named San Fernando Metro Rapidway, but the MTA Board of Directors approved the new name on January 22, 2004, and it refers to the many citrus trees that once blanketed the San Fernando Valley. Metro Liner travels between the Warner Center and North Hollywood Metro Red Line subway station in approximately 42 minutes. Photograph dated October 28, 2005.
