Photograph was edited for publication purposes In 1955, actress Jane Russell founded the World Adoption International Fund, sometimes locally referred to as the Women's Adoption International Fund. WAIF was a volunteer organization designed to help facilitate overseas adoptions by American couples. Russell adopted three children with husband Bob Waterfield and her career was nearly ended because of one of the adoptions. Photograph caption dated September 24, 1962 reads "Mmes. Richard Wray, Gordon Forbes and Bill Welsh, all of Sherman Oaks."
