Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated March 20, 1963 reads, "Stephen Perry, 15, of Sunland, reads an account of his heroic rescue of 3 1/2-year-old Donald Evans Jr. Stephen, a 10th grade student at Verdugo Hills High School, pulled the youngster from the swirling waters of Tujunga Wash Monday and revived the boy with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before firemen arrived. Stephen scaled a chain-link fence, plunged into the water and swam across the wash to aid the drowning child."
