Description
Photograph of two workers loading boxes marked "Limoneira Company" with oranges, ca.1920. Two men in hats and rubber boots, one on a ladder and one on the ground, pick oranges from a tree at center. They place them in sacks that hang over their shoulders. The oranges are then packed into wooden crates like those that sit in the soil below them. More trees stand in rows in the background. California Fruit Growers Exchange, 11/9/37. Calif. Lemon trees bear fruit year round. Nearly 42,000 acres of lemon trees in this state are of bearing age, and produce as many as 13,000 carloads of lemons.
