Description: Image of a line of anchored ships partly obscured by gun-smoke as the British Royal Navy attacks the French fleet during the Battle of the Nile in 1798; large explosion at right; men clinging to wreckage at bottom left.

"The Right honorable Admiral Lord Nelson of the Nile, the several Captains, the Officers, Seamen & Marines under his Command; This Plate, Engraved in Commemoration of their Glorious Victory on the 1st. of August 1798, is with the respect & admiration of their intrepid Conduct on that ever a Memorable Day, humbly Inscribed, By their Obedient Servant, Robt.
