Photograph caption date stamped May 14, 1955 reads, "D. A. Derfus is seated in the 'Nut-n Special' modified stock car he will drive tomorrow in the hard top auto races which return the go-fast sport to Bonelli Stadium under direction of NASCAR. Derfus, from Burbank, is one of the many hard toppers to compete in the Sunday afternoon races."
