The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee with this photo (which was printed upside down) includes the following: "The 99 year old Idaho-Maryland Mine will be accorded special tribute at the Gold Quartz Centennial Celebration in Grass Valley Friday to Sunday. Its surface workings are shown at the top. To the right (subject photo) is the marker on Gold Hill where George McKnight discovered quartz gold in 1850. . . . "
