Description
Photograph article dated February 6, 1964 partially reads, "One of the largest art mosaics in the world is nearing completion at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, Hollywood Hills. Called 'The Birth of Liberty,' the 162-foot-high mosaic contains an estimated 5 million pieces of Venetian tile. The mosaic is one of two central features in the Court of Liberty. The other is a 15-foot-high, 7,500-pound bronze statue of George Washington atop a 32-foot-high marble pedestal. The statue was put into place Monday." Mosaic scenes show the history of the Founding of America - The Mayflower, the Boston Tea Party and Betsy Ross are included.; See images #00118191 through #00118196 for all photos in this series.
