Photograph caption dated May 1, 1959 reads, "This Braille embossing machine, linked to a punched card reading device, now makes it possible to produce automatically the metal plates used to print braille books. The punched cards with the complicated Braille language are translated directly from the English text by an IBM 704 computer at electronic speeds."
