Description
This circa 1920 photograph shows the result of an accident involving an automobile at a highway grade crossing. The remains of the automobile are jammed under the front of Sacramento Northern Car 130. Notes from the California State Railroad Museum identify a possible location for this accident as the North Sacramento flag stop with the shelter at the extreme left of the photograph. A frequent safety concern in the first half of the twentieth-century, pleas for safer crossing grades from both public and private citizens filled Sacramento papers.
