Description
"This is the Mandarin, unfortunately the glory of his coloured silks will not appear, so you must imagine them. Rev. H. Thompson of Amoy is on the right, while HW Oldham my friend &companion is at the back." Rev Henry Thompson was a missionary with the English Presbyterian Mission in Xiamen from 1877 to 1914, Rev. Henry Oldham was based at the EPM mission at Zhangpu from 1904 to 1920 while Dr J. Howard Mongomery (the photographer) worked at Changpu from 1904 to 1927.
