Photograph of several boats at anchor in a moonlight study of sky and sea, ca.1890-1910. At center, at least seven small sailboats can be clearly seen sitting within a small harbor. Each sailboat possesses a single mast at the center of the boat with several wires connecting the mast to various parts of the boat. No sails are visible on any of the boats. In the background, the walled harbor is seen on the left and right. A small opening is visible near the center connecting to the ocean. In the extreme background, mountain ranges can be seen rising against the cloudy sky. Only a bit of sunlight reflects off the water in the image most of the image is shrouded in darkness.
