Description
Ernest W. Fischer was born in Wheaton, Illinois in 1886 and came to Pomona in 1904 due to his asthma condition. In 1905 he entered Pomona College for two years before returning to Wheaton. His asthma returned so he followed a friend to Yakima, Washington. Eventually he returned to Pomona and completed his education. Mr. Fischer taught at Chaffey High School and later served as principal for twenty years, and for five years he served as superintendent of Chaffey Union School District. In this interview, Mr. Fischer recalls his early life and his career in education, as well as his memories of the Ontario area from over the years. Mr. Fischer died in 1981.
