Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on May 2, 1968 states: "South Lake Tahoe workmen have begun dismantling Globin's Pier and Pavilion which has been a landmark at the south shore of Lake Tahoe for more than half a century. The building and pier have not been used for many years and were given to the city last year by Frank Globin who purchased them with his resort in 1924. In its heyday, the pavilion was the site of dancing to big-name bands and of large banquets. The pier extended out to deep water where passengers and mail were unloaded."
